NEW
YEARS EVE CHARITY BALL
Back
in October, John Treacy, CEO of the Irish Sports Council,
launched the New Years Eve Fundraiser for Monaghan Charities,
Life Support and Positive Age in the Hillgrove Hotel. The
fundraising event will be a Formal Charity Ball this New Year’s
Eve (31st December 2009) in the Hillgrove Hotel’s stunning
Van Gogh Suite. The evening of glamour and fun will commence
at 7.30pm, were guests can meet for drinks in the adjoining
Picasso Suite. A delicious five course dinner will be served
at 8pm sharp. There will be spot prizes on the night, donated
by local businesses and also an exciting auction of some very
special items!! Guests can then boogie the evening away until
it’s time to ring in 2010 in style at midnight. Dancing
will continue til the wee hours.
Most
charities have been hit badly by the recession in 2009, so
this is the ideal way to spend New Years Eve in luxury, whilst
also supporting two very worthwhile local charities. Everyone
is welcome and Private Tables of 10 are available for €500
or you can join others at a table, as individual tickets are
for sale for €50 each. (Tables of 12 can also be provided).
Life
Support, a Suicide Bereavement Support Service, based in Park
Street in Monaghan town, is a voluntary organisation who support
family members and friends in the aftermath of a suicide through
the provision of the following services: One-to-one Support,
Group Support, Information on Entitlements e.g. Death Grants,
Referral to Counselling Services and Training Courses through
Fás. They also provide Counselling Services at a low

Positive
Age is a voluntary organisation established in 1988 for the
promotion of Social Gain for the Older Person. Based in Glaslough
Street in Monaghan town, their annual programme includes Computer
Training, Cross Border Exchanges, Lifelong Learning, Arts
and Drama Projects, and participation in National Bealtaine
Programme. Their aim is to challenge the negative attitude
to ageing and combat isolation of Older People in society.
Membership is in excess of 2000 older people in counties Monaghan,
